Competition guide
VNL 2026 standings explained
How match points, wins, set ratio and final-round qualification fit together in the VNL table.
Match points come first
In the usual VNL format, a 3–0 or 3–1 win earns three match points, while a 3–2 win earns two and the losing side receives one. A straight or four-set loss earns none. Always check the current official regulations for the competition year.
Ties need more context
Teams level on points are separated using the competition rules, which can include wins, set ratio and points ratio. Our competition table only calculates from recorded finished scores; the official table decides qualification and any tie-break.
Finals are not another league week
The final round is a bracket after preliminary standings determine qualifiers. A knockout result should be read in its own context, so use the official event page when comparing preliminary-table position with the finals draw.
